Inquest in Africa

Peter's mysterious and still unexplained death whilst in police custody on the evening of 12 November 2011, triggered an inquest under the laws of South Africa. Peter's family immediately instructed Africa's largest law firm and one of its most respected Senior Advocates. For reasons still unexplained, the police force in whose custody he died persuaded a magistrate to hold a closed inquest into his death without informing the family's lawyers or the family. The family has long campaigned to have the inquest reopened and conducted in public with the main witnesses called and questioned. They now anticipate the announcement of the reopening of the inquest, but great respect for the Republic of South Africa's legal system and its law officers necessitate that nothing more is said for the time being. When further news is available, it will be published on this site.
